The look in your eyes
tells me all
I know you couldn’t say
I know you wouldn’t say
But I can see the love there
and I can see the pain
Though today
I love you my way,
If only I could live again -
to match your love
to wipe the pain
Only for the look in your eyes.

If only we could redo our mistakes. I like all the emotion and longing in this.
ReplyDeleteI know that feeling. You have expressed it succinctly and well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda.
ReplyDeleteThis poem is not really about mistakes. At times we might care for a person yet cannot return the love they hold for us, to the full extent. This poem is written in that context.
Glad you understand, Viv :)
ReplyDeleteWe all have our own kind of loving! And it's quite sad when another's need somehow doesn't quite match what we can give! So very beautifully written!
ReplyDeleteGemma, thanks. You've put that so well in prose.
ReplyDeleteAt least the love is there even if it not quite balanced. Delightful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem. There's so much emotion in it! Visiting from Carry on Tuesday :)
