Sunday

When it rains

When it rains
I’ll watch with renewed awe
the maniacal swaying of trees
the lightning and thunder

When it rains
I’ll look up at the sky and wonder
how bears, horses and dragons
can all turn into drops of water?

When it rains
I’ll pull out my mud print dress
and gambol in the liquid chatter

When it rains
I’ll wear a silly grin on my face
and hum a song

When it rains
When will it rain?

(Penned before the rains began in earnest!
Inspired to some extent by the song from the movie 'Singing in the Rain')

We felt like that yesterday when rain came back to us after taking a long sabbatical. Good poem.

I have heard of it raining cats and dogs, but bears, horses and dragons?

Love the rain, it makes everywhere appear clean and fresh again.

Tino, as kids we imagine clouds to look like so many different animals.. those are the bears and dragons :)

We're having nothing but rain and wind right now. This makes me want to go out and play in it!

I love cloud watching ... as well as the sound of a good rain ... unfortunately, we have neither at the moment. This was a fun post ~ thank you for sharing.

"I’ll pull out my mud print dress" I love this line. You certainly captured the sense of magic when I see the rain. I used to love going outside in stormless showers and just run around

I love this! Although we finally got some sun...maybe the rain that pummeled us this past week will come to you. I guess this is a lesson in being grateful for what we have when we have it.

Hi, I'm John. I really like your poem "When it Rains". I believe that really good poetry brings emotions or memories to the reader, and yours just did that to me. In fact I may even be inspired to write a poem about the memories that just flashed through me as I read your poem. Thank you for that....
